What are You Fearful of?

The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? Psalms 27:1

Who are what are you afraid of?

I had a man one time threaten to kill me. In fact, it’s happened on at least two different occasions. I wouldn’t be being honest if I didn’t admit I was fearful. Though I had fear, I knew I couldn’t run and therefore on both occasions, with my knees wobbling, I faced the men who threatened me. In both cases, the Lord went before me and prepared the way and the situations worked out much better than I could have ever have hoped. You see, before I faced those situations, my mind ran crazy with all kinds of possibilities. None of those possibilities turned out to be realities! My mind thought of everything possible except what actually happened. I know now, that was the enemy trying to cripple me with fear. Hindsight is 20/20. Foresight, not so much!
What we do need in our foresight though, is faith and trust in God. God wants us to believe him even when we don’t know the outcome. Even if we don’t understand why He is asking us to do whatever it is He is asking. Do we trust Him? Do we have faith that He really has our best interest at heart?
Through our experiences, God proves Himself to be trustworthy. The Psalmist here had experienced God enough to know He was trustworthy. He declared, “The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?” My experiences with the Lord tell me the same thing! I know He is my light and my salvation and He is the strength of my life, therefore, whom shall I be afraid of?
Do you know the Lord well enough to know, He has your back? Do you trust the Lord even in those situations you don’t understand? If the answer to any of those questions is no, make sure of your salvation and determine to trust Him even when you don’t understand!
Consumed by the call,
Pastor Marty
