The Redeemed Life

The Redeemed Life
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13-14
Have you ever heard one man’s trash is another man’s treasure? I was thinking about some of those shows on TV where these guys travel the country looking at people’s useless old stuff and then they turn into something grand. The people who have the junk have no idea what it is worth. I had two huge things like that happen to me this week. The first one is my uncle died in Vietnam in 1970 and the one thing I got of his was his Gibson electric guitar. As a teenager my brother sat on it & broke the neck. I was told it couldn’t be repaired. Now, I have kept it all these years because of the sentimental value. Somebody who knows more about it than me saw it this week and said it might be worth $25,000. Now I don’t know if that’s true or not especially in the condition it’s in but it made me think. I’ve never dreamed that guitar had any value. It’s not my field. I have no knowledge in those kind of things!
I remember reading a story about a guy who went to a garage sale & bought a box of old comic books for a $1. When he went home & started going through them he found one that was a classic. He put it on E-Bay & the one comic book sold for $2.5 million dollars. The original owner had no idea what they had. To them it was just a really old comic book. To the right person it was a classic worth $2.5 million dollars! It’s all in the eye of the beholder!
That is the way it is in the kingdom. Many people have no idea what they are worth. Because of our past sins and failures we think we are worthless. Who would want us? The enemy is constantly reminding us of how worthless we are. Way too often we believe the enemy rather than believing God! It’s time for us to find out what God says and believe that over all the other voices that are coming at us. God says, “He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His dear Son whom He loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Once we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are now children of God. Co-heirs with Jesus Christ! Come on somebody! Start saying it & start believing it! I am a child of God! God is my Father! I am His & He is mine! GLORY!
