Great Awakening

Great Awakening
In the eighth year of his reign, while he was still young, he began to seek the God of his father David. 2 Chronicles 34:3
When the king heard the words of the Law, he tore his robes…Great is the Lord’s anger that is poured out on us because our fathers have not kept the word of the Lord; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written in this book. 2 Chronicles 34:19-21
The story of Josiah is one of the great stories in the Bible. He becomes king when he is 8 years old. 8 years later he begins to clean out all the detestable practices the Israelites had setup. He begins to honor the Lord throughout the land. He led the people back to their God. They began to follow the Book by the letter. They worshipped the Lord and begin to do everything according to the Book.
As I read that story, Josiah finds the condition of his country very much like they are here in America. He made the decision to follow the Lord and led the people in his nation back to God. He was appalled at the disobedience of his fathers. He began to serve the Lord wholeheartedly and led the people to do the same. The really cool thing is he began to do all these things as a teenager. I sense that very same thing is happening again right here in our own country. I also sense that teenagers are going to lead the movement back to God here in America. For the last 6 months things have begun to change in our Church. We feel a stronger presence of the Lord in our meetings. We sense a stronger anointing on our worship and on the preaching and it doesn’t matter who is preaching. All of these things started after we had our time of prayer and fasting in January. I started noticing changes in our youth group. Some of them would begin to show up on Wednesday night as early as 5 PM. They would worship and pray in the youth room until service started. Our Wednesday nights began to change. Then I noticed 7 or 8 adults would begin to meet on Sunday mornings at 8:30 and begin to pray for an hour before service. Our Sunday morning services began to change. God is on the move! Everything starts with prayer and fasting. I want to encourage you this week to begin to fast and pray especially for the services this week. We will be meeting at 6 PM an hour before the service to pray. We are believing for a 100 souls this week. Invite somebody to one of the evening services and begin to pray for them even now! Nobody is too young and nobody is too old to obey God and be a part of what He is doing in the earth today!

My Declaration of Dependence

My Declaration of Dependence
…if my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
From our foundation, America has had an independent spirit. In many cases, this independent has been very helpful in causing us to resist tyranny and to dare to go places no man has gone before. We have explored and invented so many new things and new ways of doing different things. Our independent spirit has caused us to become entrepreneurs as a society. But sometimes that independent spirit of ours can be a bad thing. America as a nation has forgotten God and seems to have no regard for Him. The reason we have no regard for Him as a nation is because we have neglected our Bibles and we have become biblically illiterate.
Anyone who reads their Bible can see and understand how God deals with nations and with his people. We have mistaken God’s long-suffering and patience with us as a nation as proof He is either asleep or doesn’t exist. This is a fatal mistake. The judgment of God is coming to our nation unless we repent and forsake our personal and national sins! Charles Stanly the pastor of 1st Baptist Church in Atlanta said in his new book “Turning the Tide”, that there is a political, religious and social tsunami coming to America if we don’t repent and forsake our personal and national sins. God will not be patient and long-suffering forever. Recent legislative decisions in New York and California appear to be spitting in God’s eye! This is not a wise course of action.
I still believe there is hope for America, but we must remember that we are dependent people not independent. We are dependent upon Almighty God for protection and provision and all that we need to live here on planet earth. This day, I am declaring MY DECLARATION OF DEPENDENCE! If we as a nation will humble ourselves and pray and seek His face and turn from our wicked ways, then God will hear from heaven and forgive our sin and heal our land.
Dear God, forgive us our sins, help us to see our utter helplessness and our need for you in every area of our life. Forgive us for our arrogance and cockiness and for thinking with our own hands we have built this nation. Lord, your hand is all in our nation’s history and we know you have brought us to this place in history for a reason. Lord help us to turn to you and see our need to be dependent on you. Root out every evil force working in America so that you can use us to fulfill your purposes through this nation in these last days! Forgive us for our sins both personal and national and restore us and heal us that we might continue to be a blessing to the world and that you might use us to further your kingdom!
